Black Darter

A trip on the passenger ferry Nordic Sea from Stromness to Lyness. This is an extra route for the summer, so I thought I'd have a trip. They had a very close encounter with a pod of orcas a few days ago, but no luck today.
I walked up a track from Lyness to an area called Wee Fea where there are some pools good for dragon- and damselflies. There were many common blue and large red dams and at least 20 black darter dragonflies and one common hawker. Also my first common blue butterflies of summer and a garden tiger moth in a small plantation.
