Mono Monday 548 :: MM548 :: 4-Shore
Over the coming days we are hosting a young lady from Springfield Missouri who we met for the first time yesterday. She is the 4th generation of a family we first met in 1979 on a Greyhound bus between St Louis and Kansas City when her great-great aunt sat next to me for 12 hours.
Today Whitby was on our agenda but when we got there it was full! Between the parking app not working and the ticket machines causing no end of problems we moved on to our plan B, Saltburn-by-the-Sea. Before we got there we found ourselves passing through Sandsend. Here we had lunch at the Wits End Cafe and Walled Garden, a gem of a place.
My Blip is from the carpark overlooking the beach (foreshore) towards Whitby with its ruined abbey on top of the cliff. I think the photo has a timeless feel to it.
Saltburn-by-the-Sea was the busiest we have seen it but we managed to park down by the beach to show our guest how we Brits do the seaside. A little stroll and an ice cream was in order.
We will venture west tomorrow.
