Eggs of White Butterfly

Never sure why "Cabbage White Butterflies lay their eggs on a non Cabbage family. The hatched caterpillars can eat voraciously and grow rapidly. I gave a leaf and a flower to a colleague recently, he had never tasted it before, said it was reminiscent of Cabbage!!!!! Forgot to say it is Nasturtium leaf.
