Spontaneity...but with kids

The first day of the summer holidays and, looking at the weather forecast, I realised that today was going to be the best weather of the weekend with us all off together, and that most schools hadn't actually broken up yet...so, in a burst of spontaneity at 8am, we decided on a trip to the beach.

Because of having a small person to take with us we eventually had the car packed ready to leave at 10 o'clock.
It was a very good decision in the end though, the beach was pretty empty, no queue for ice cream, enough cloud cover to make it comfortable, and the sea was accommodating enough for a swim and body boarding. Then there was a stop off for the traditional chips on the way home.
