Cherokee Trail of Tears

We visited a friend’s allotment this afternoon and discovered they had the rare Cherokee Trail of Tears beans.
These heirloom beans were carried by
Cherokee ancestors over the Trail of Tears the infamous winter death march from the Smoky Mountains to Oklahoma (1838-39) that left a trail of 4,000 graves.
Craig (pictured) is fixing a bird deterrent because the pigeons have taken a fancy to the beans too.
They bought them online from the Welsh based company RealSeeds.
