"Baby look at you now." I once heard/read that it wasn't a bad idea to halve this year's growth to reduce wind/storm damage, but do your full pruning "next year". Since then "they" now say that it matters not one tittle, or jot, whether you prune "by the book" or just attack it with clippers.
With that thought in mind I did a fairly mighty prune to reveal the new, sturdy, this year's growth. I wonder if it'll throw true - OR - as Jerra postulated; If a "Bush" variety is ever grafted onto a more vigorous stock.
We shall see? I count a possible six new Flowers on the insert IF they're in time to open.
