Stabbur

This a a stabbur, an old Norwegian store house. Most were elevated well off the ground to stop mice etc. getting in. In times past, before cars and snow ploughs, people could be snowed in for weeks at a time. This made it essential that one had a good supply of flour, dried meat and fish, together with other preserved food.
Most of them had plants growing on the roof.
