Something Old...

The Sacred Heart statue was placed in 1925 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Carolus Josephus Wilhelmus van Winkel (1843-1927) as pastor in Schaijk. The statue initially stood at the intersection of Pastoor van Winkelstraat and Runstraat. After a serious collision in May 1956, in which a car was pushed against the iron fence surrounding the statue by a truck, it was decided to move the statue. It was given a place on the square next to the Antonius Abt Kerk.
