A full day with The Australian Relatives.

We stayed with my mum's cousin and his wife in 1997 in Sydney, and I may well have been the first member of the family to reach those shores since my grandma's brother Sid emigrated there in 1921.

They were very lovely to us, and were equally lovely when we returned to Australia in 2000.

So, when they were in Edinburgh for one full day only some 24 years later ie today, it was a pleasure to show them the sights and return some of their hospitality.

And, when we dropped them off at Newhaven harbour tonight for them to return to their ship, it would have just been plain rude not to split a haddock supper.
