Bassenthwaite again

Another hot hot day and guess who had to work all day!! Anyhow it meant I got to have a sandwich at Bassenthwaite with Bonnie.

I took Bonnie home before going on to Carlisle and I'm so glad I did as when I put some more bird food out I noticed an injured young starling on the bird feeder. It had somehow got a leg caught up in the chain of the fat ball feeder which had come adrift. I couldn't get the leg out and shouted for my neighbour who came over and got the leg out. Unfortunately there wasn't much left of the leg so a quick phone call to the Knoxwood Wildlife Rescue Trust who said to bring it in. On arrival somebody inspected the injury and said the leg would be cut off and they would keep it there until it was fully healed in about 3 weeks time, phew talk about drama. I eventually got to Carlisle running a bit late! Work again tomorrow!
