Now, as I see it......

Just for the record......

Earlier this year we had nearly all the house decorated; just the kitchen left to do.  The downstairs cloakroom looked OK but we quickly found that even the tiniest splashes of water marked the paint on the wall, and it was virtually impossible to wash your hands and move them to the towel without splashing.  It was starting to look a mess and would only get worse.  When our kitchen man was with us doing the alterations a couple of weeks ago we happened to mention that we were thinking of tiling the cloakroom and he said he was happy to do it for us.

Now, I'm a bit of an amateur at these things.  To my mind all that was required was to slap a few tiles on the wall and cut them a bit where something was in the way.  Apparently, if you're doing a proper job, you don't do that.  You remove everything from the room; wash basin, radiator, toilet, skirting boards and anything else you can think of.  Then you tile the walls properly, and then put everything back.

It's taken all this week but today he finished and I have to say he has done a superb job.  The walls will need to be painted again as the colour doesn't go with the new tiles and the flooring will need to be replaced; that's happening the week after next.  But apart from that we're really pleased with the job and it looks good.  And it's nice to have a ground floor toilet back in use again!
