East Bank, the exciting location for the University of the Arts, London, V&A, BBC & Sadler’s Wells. All in close proximity. And these are just a small example of the innovative growth of the Arts showcase here in East London. And just round the corner is a small block wall, each facet can spin, each is decorated, embellished, defaced, enhanced and/or enriched with messages of those passing by. I love the idea of interactive art, of local voices for local people, of self-expression through street furniture. So here’s to the mega-institutions of our country giving local communities their rightful place in their own localities.
