Lili
Thanks so much for all your concern over G’s mother yesterday. You’ll be pleased to know that all is well and she’s content and comfortable back in her care home.
The general consensus is that she probably didn’t need to go into A&E at all, but of course, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Chest pains are obviously a major danger signal that cannot be ignored, but she does tend to panic over discomfort and I think the message can get lost in translation.
Troponin levels were indeed high, but no higher than expected in a 95 year old, and the local surgery phone to reassure there is no problem. There will be a doctor’s visit next week.
Amazingly, G received a call from an A&E doctor about his discharge paperwork, G having decided to discharge Mair himself. The doctor agrees with his decision and actually apologises for the unacceptable situation of her having to sit in a wheelchair for eight hours. We’re quite taken back by the apology - and do appreciate his call. It’s a far cry from my experiences last year, and I do wonder whether the formal complaint I made has resulted in some improved practices - though obviously not in terms of waiting times. (I’m not sure whether I told you that the complaint did go through formal procedures and that I had a letter of apology together with a detailed report on how issues had been reviewed/ resolved.)
And so, life returns to ‘normal’ with the uplifting visit of Lili and parents for the weekend - just what we need. The weather is even warm enough (just) for a BBQ with Solveig and I enjoying tuna steaks prepared by Daniel while the men have the usual burger and sausages. Then there’s Daniel’s birthday cake - it was his birthday yesterday - a fabulous baked cheesecake made by Solveig.
Unsurprisingly, Lili’s the focus today - with Solveig at the garden table. And there’s an extra with Daniel on his birthday.
