The kindness of strangers ..

I was walking on the outskirts of the village today when I got chatting to a man about his lovely garden. I was admiring his sweetpeas and telling him they always make me think of my Uncle Doug and Aunt Isobel. Doug and Isobel were very keen gardeners and when we would stay with them in Perth I would follow Doug around the garden watching him dig and plant and stake. Isobel would make me "angel cakes" with butter icing and little wings. The sweetpeas were always in flower during our summer stay and I loved the palette, the scent and how delicate they were. This lovely stranger today cut me this little posy of sweetpeas and cornflowers and helped bring the memory to life. What a kind man.
