Golden Gate Bridge

Well, here it is in all its glory! It's gorgeous. I really do like bridges and this one stands out as one of the best I've seen.

It's just so majestic and grand. And looked amazing on the lovely sunny day we had. The tour guide informed us that it is not actually red, its 'International Orange'!!! And the reason its called 'Golden Gate' is because the body of water under it used to be known as 'The Golden Gateway' for ships heading out on the trade route between America and Asia. Well, you learn something new everyday.

We were thrilled to be there and took hundreds of photos, the boys too with their cameras and mine. They read up about the construction and seismic proofing of the bridge. We got off both ends of the bridge to get pics, but this one was my favourite.

Then back into the city and the next place we wanted to get off was at Lombard Street and a very steep walk up to Russian Hill, oh my, what a climb. Jon and I thought we were going to pass out. San Francisco is very very hilly!!! Poor chap, he managed to get himself out again today, not feeling 100%. Proud of him. Anyway, yes, we made it to the top of the hill and wow, it was so good to see that windy, crooked street lined with hydrangea flowers looking so gorgeous. Will try and upload those pix to my blip folio tomorrow.

Back into town for some last minute shopping and some grub, we're pretty shattered. Thankfully, we have not suffered from jet lag at all and that has been a real blessing.

Tomorrow, Seattle to visit my dear friend, and the reason why we made this trip in the first place. Everything else that happens, is definitely a bonus.
