Long Shots

I haven't used my 200-800mm lens much since I bought it a couple of months ago. Decided to put it on today. All the above shots were taken with it. It's the first time I've used it for insects.

The female brimstone butterfly is on great hairy willow-herb, also known as codlins-and-cream. The moth is either a mother-of-pearl or a lesser pearl. I wasn't very close but it doesn't seem to have the nacreous quality characteristic of the former. Nice to see a peacock butterfly, so few about this year.

The bird is a juvenile dunnock.
