When I have a wee bit more than an hour available, I like to try and nip out anticlockwise round the hill on foot. If I only have exactly an hour, heading out along Willowbrae Road, through Duddingston, then up the back of the hill and over the top can be done in exactly an hour if I scuttle in a few places and don't have to wait too long at pedestrian crossings.
