The Ridgeway

A short trip this morning to the Iron Age hill fort of Barbury Castle, from where I walked a section of The Ridgeway. It is an ancient route which connected the Dorset and Norfolk coasts. The modern national trail is 87 miles long, along the Wessex Downs to the Chilterns. In this image Barbury Castle can be seen in the foreground, and beyond that the hill forts at Liddington and Uffington.

This is my last full day staying with my brother and SiL. It’s been a good week, and I’ve been extremely lucky with the weather. Tomorrow I turn northwards.
