Requiem for a Tilley Hat

G bought his first Tilley Hat in Asheville North Carolina in  2008 and it has accompanied him on local walks and far-flung travels ever since - well until last year.  

Feeling his trusty hat had begun to show signs of wear and tear, he decided to call in the Tilley ‘life time guarantee’ - a free replacement for loss or damage. Sure enough, he was entitled to a brand new pristine Tilley Hat - BUT he had to cut off the brim of his old one and photograph the now defunct article of head gear and send the shot off to activate the deal. 

Since last autumn, he has been waiting for an opportunity to perform a ritual burning of the Tilley Hat and tonight’s the night. He and Daniel sit outside drinking Penderyn and watching it turn to glowing embers in the chiminea. It’s a painful farewell to a trusty companion, but the whisky makes things easier!
