It's a cooler day
with some showers to keep things
fresh for a short while

I pushed the bins out to the street at 5:30, then I headed off to McArthur Island on this rather damp, grey morning. It is beautifully cool.

I drove in at the east entrance as usual and made straight for the Butterfly Garden on the north side. I decided to walk the edge of the slough and tried not to get distracted by the beautiful flowers. I focused on the wild flowers and weeds tucked into the grass along the slough.

I took the foot bridge to the far side of the slough catching my mountains and had a look into the slough facing west. One beaver was plying the waterways. Canada geese seemed to have the slough to themselves.

As I drove by the old restaurant on the west side of the drive, I spotted those marmots again. One came forward on the walkway looking curiously at me.

I drove out of the park and along the roadway to discover two lovely does munching as they walked along. They would pause, have a little tiff, then walk on. They must be sisters!

I'm thankful for this much cooler day, although it's grey and rather unappealing. I have some jobs to do this morning, then I can relax.
