Back Yard

Hot, dry days have turned the grass brown, but the corn is still green and growing. We bought corn starts from a home a few blocks away; hoping for at least a dozen ears. 
You can see the new support holding up the porch roof: a couple of 2x4s screwed together and held up with a heavy-duty auto jack that we finally found a use for. We had to remove the old support in order to fix the concrete floor. 
In a week we'll head for ND and a funeral/family reunion, so the porch will have to be patient, as will the house painters.
