Cousin Bob gave us a comprehensive tour of the dock area of Bristol - on what was a truly scorching hot summer day with not a cloud in the sky.
It's a fascinating story involving among other things, the changing of the course of rivers to keep the water levels up for the multitude of ships that have used the port over the centuries.
The above masted schooner is The Matthew of Bristol - a modern reconstruction of the original Matthew that John Cabot sailed to Newfoundland in 1497. A much-loved part of Bristol's history ... . . . . . . .
