Norway day #10

A  recreated Viking longhouse on the site of the original excavation. We were real tourists today. Mr P and I dressed  up in Viking clothes, listened to the old sagas and ate Viking food  - drop scones with jam and cream sitting at the very long banqueting table inside. The chieftain who lived here was pretty close to Norwegian royalty and had descendents who fought with William the Conquerer.  We were surprised to see 1066 on the time line. Apparently William1 recruited them because they were great fighters and he was intent on invasions.
