The Curfew Tower
I headed back home today on this very hot sunny day. As l had left fairly early in the morning l decided to stop for a short walk around Morton in Marsh where today’s blip of the Curfew Tower was taken. The tower dates from the 17th century and still contains the original bell that rang daily from 1633 until 1860. It was rung every evening to remind people to cover their fires at night to prevent fires in their thatched homes.
After this l expected to reach the M5 easily but this was not to be. The main road had been closed and l couldn’t find an easy way around it. Apparently it was closed for tree felling. After trying out several routes I eventually arrived on the M5 to find that also very busy. I arrived home late in the afternoon. Time for an early night l think.
