Chloe and Emily Davison plaque
We had a hectic morning sorting the house and van before our visitors came. I also struggled with the Trainline App trying to get booked for Katy and me to go to Dundee. I used my iPad to buy the outward tickets and it said I’d need to take that device with me unless I transferred it to my phone using the confirmation email. This did not come. So I booked the return ticket on my phone and put in the wallet. But there was no confirmation for that either.
Mr C dropped me at Central Station to meet our visitors so I had time to go to the ticket office to get help. Being LNER she couldn’t help but I got the Trainline phone number. They couldn’t help unless I told them the amount I’d paid for the tickets but I couldn’t access that there as it was in the iPad at home. Oh well maybe tomorrow.
It was a delight to meet Chloe and Graham off their delayed train. We offered them a visit to the Laing to see the Turmers (Fighting Temeraire on load from National Gallery) or go home and have a walk on the moor. They chose the gallery. They were most impressed with the Laing especially with the Chris Killip photos where I took them after the Turners.
On the way home I got Mr C to park round the corner in Longhorsely. I’d always seen the Emily Davison plaque from the car driving past and I knew they’d love it.
We took a country single track route home through three fords. While Mr C made us G&T I got dinner on. He’d picked up some padron peppers so I did them to eat while the one dish roast potatoes, tomatoes, olives, capers and salmon cooked. I served that with green beans. Pudding was summer pudding.
We had a great evening talking travel, politics, families, books mainly. Mr C had us on the Jolly Jackals by the end.
Lots of plans for the next 2 days.
