The Old School, Tremeirchion

SATURDAY

A hot and sunny day.

I  headed over to Holywell for the Greenfield Valley for the parkrun. I managed  to keep up with the 28 minute pacer for the first 2.5 km but then, on the uphill return, he slowly started to disappear into the distance. I finished 36 seconds behind him with a time of 00:28:34.

On behalf of the local community group, I have been busy over the past few weeks organising a Photography and Artwork Competition. The exhibition takes place tomorrow (Sunday) so I spent this evening at The Old School setting up the displays and receiving prints and pieces of artwork from a number of entrants. It was nice for me to meet and chat to villagers - they are a lovely bunch!

The Old School (Yr Hen Ysgol) is owned by the adjacent church and is used for community activities and also, during term time for the pre and after school club. The original building was erected in 1765 and restored in 1835. It's a Grade II Listed Building. A three-step mounting block can be seen in the photograph.

Someone actually turned up on a horse this evening.
