Pittodrie

Something completely different today as Mrs CBL and I joined our daughter in attending an Open Training Session at Pittodrie home of Aberdeen FC.

We watched the players being put through their paces, practising their skills before ending with an eleven-a- side match which lasted twenty minutes.

Pittodrie is a somewhat dated stadium, the club is hoping to build a new stadium on land nearby but if it comes to pass it will be some time before they leave their present ground.

Dated though it is, it was once at the forefront of football stadiums, being the first all covered and all seated stadium in the UK.  Also it can claim to be the first British club to install dugouts at the side of the touchline.

After a very disappointing season last year the club has a new manager and there are high hopes for the year ahead.  Time will tell if he and the team have the supporters singing their praises or booing them off the park.
