A Stitch in Time

Many of the items in my doll's houses are hand crafted from scratch or kits.  These are three of the tapestries stitched on fine canvas; you need good light and eyesight - especially for the fire screen!  The Clarice Cliff style design on the brown frame was stitched by my mum and the frame was probably made by my dad, both now sadly departed. Its style is a bit late for the Victorian time period represented by the doll's houses, but it doesn't really matter.  The others are my own work from kits.

The full saying is "A stitch in time saves nine", and basically means "if you sort out a problem immediately it may save a lot of extra work later". It was first recorded in a book in 1723 referring to sewing up rips and tears sooner rather than later!
