A Game Old Bird With Her Hackles Up
The title is the most exciting bit really but I'll make the effort and try to improve things.
Yesterday a dear friend loaned me a piece of Medieval torture equipment. It was Jane's fault really. Last week when she was teaching me how to drum card, I spied this bit of wood with pointy bits and a sea shell and she gave me a verbal run through. At my age, that never works. A two hour demo and it might scratch the surface.
Anyway.
I mentioned the pointy thing to Lilith who went,"Aha!", scurried off and returned with The Hackle. The demo was promptly and efficiently given. I was offered a loan of it and was delighted to accept.
This afternoon, refreshed by a nap in which snakes were chasing me again, (a story for another time), I set up the hackle and set to work with chunks of various rovings and sparkly bits. And cat. She swished her tail too close to the hackle but the colour of her hair blends in quite nicely.
I did not too badly for a first go although I ended up with several wee balls rather than one long, elegant, continuous coil of fibre.
I also forgot that you shouldn't lean forward to pick up the diz from the floor when you drop it. Such is life!
