He’s been on duty guarding the garden from intruders. He wasn’t pleased to be stood down over the hottest hours of the day.

I learnt a new word that sums up my activities today: puttering.

Defined as: the act of doing dozens of little chores that no-one knows need to be done, that no-one wants to do and no-one notices have been done.
