Anna's Hummingbird

The last day of July. I have to say I'll be glad to get going on August; it's been many months of waiting for my sister's funeral. So, as I sat with my knitting buds, this Anna's suddenly appeared and spent some time feeding on the nearby red runner beans. I hadn't seen a hummingbird in my yard for ages, and I saw her as a good sign of sisters and other missing loved ones.
Then, as our needles kept up a nice rhythmic clicking, keeping time with our tales, our complaints, our laughter - all so wonderful -  I got two phone calls from the house painter.
Ugh, just as we feared, he wants to get started right away and we want to wait until we return from North Dakota. We settled on them showing up Thursday morning to spend two days scraping and power-washing. Stay tuned. Or don't; I wouldn't blame you.
