Tiny Hunter

This is the season to see Orchard orb weaver spiders.
These beautiful little (females 5.5-7.5mm, males are smaller) spiders are 'ferocious' hunters of mostly flying insects. They are especially fond of and very adept at catching mosquitoes in their webs. 
Fun Fact: Their genus name Leucauge is from Greek roots that mean "with a bright gleam".
