Flooding

Crazy weather on my drive home tonight. Thunderstorm with very heavy rain for about an hour which made the roads quite treacherous for driving with so much flooding. And coming into my home village, I couldn’t go my usual way as the road was completely flooded. So I tried another route but that was also flooded. So in the end I parked the car in the supermarket car park and walked home. Thankfully the rain had eased by then. The thing I was most surprised about was the water coming up out of the drains in the road, lifting the drain covers completely off, never seen that before. By the time I’d walked home, the flooding on my route had just about gone, so after dinner Paul gave me a lift to pick my car up again. Let’s hope we don’t get any more downpours like that. At least I’m lucky enough not to get any flooding in the house or garden, just some rather battered plants.
