Not what we were expecting...

Having arrived at our campsite outside Calais at about 2:30am, we slept for a few hours and were back on the road by 8:30am...

Autoroutes almost all day apart from the last couple of hours south from Grenoble. Apparently it's a stunningly scenic route but the fog and rain were in charge. Temperature-ometer said it was only 12C at times - we hadn't packed for that!

Anyway, once we descended into Haut-Provence the weather decided to be better and by the time we arrived at the campsite (after 12 hours in the van) it was a very pleasant mid-20s, and V had a pot of pasta ready for us. Not to mention a chilled bottle of wine.

And so the holiday commences :)
