Bright
Another hot day. It did start to rain just as I was about to leave the house so I hung on for a few more minutes. When I did set off on my bike the smell of the damp earth was just divine, I love the word for it even if I struggle to pronounce it..petrichor. I once demonstrated the smell at the Chelsea flower show where we had agar plates of actinomycetes bacteria growing.
Walked over to the Harris Gardens for lunch. There are some old concrete planters that have been full of rubbish but someone has cleared them and planted a lovely seed mix. It looked fantastic in the sun today.
The thunder started late this afternoon and, typically, the torrential rain started just as I was cycling home. I put a couple of lights on as it was so dark. The roads were awash but not too busy. I got home soaked to the skin despite a waterproof coat and trousers. I squelched my way in with very wet feet. The rain stopped shortly after I got in and the sun re-emerged. It was a bit cooler though.
