Day out with M

Cousin, once removed, age 29, from Maryland USA, made it here for the day. Train arrived from London 30 minutes late. Picked him up from the station, recognised him from the photos.

Went for a coffee to Blend. Had chat and catch up on. Knew so little about him. He worked out we last saw him when he was 4 at his cousin's wedding here. (I am very close to her).

Showed him round the town centre and Lower Gardens. He was interested in the Aviary (eclectic variety of rescue birds). Took the Land Train to Branksome Chine (blip is from the train, of the section of beach hosting the Surf Life Saving National Championships). Lunched at Rockwater. Walked to Sandbanks.

Needed to get back for train. Saw a Breezer Bus drive past the bus stop without even stopping, as "full", and a huge number of people waiting there! They only come ½ hourly. So panicked and called a taxi which came within 5 minutes. Was far too warm, and my feet ached, to stand around and wait for the next bus which could also be full.

Amazing weather. Sunny, blue skies, warm but with a gentle cool sea breeze.

Had a drink and fruit at home. Showed him photos of his dad who passed away when he only a couple of years old.

Returned M to the train station, his visit to us was over :). He's promised to return very soon.
