Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre
“The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child into old age, which means never losing your enthusiasm.”
Aldous Huxley
Left for Ebbw Vale just after 9am to collect flyers for HOVAS October Open Day – Exploring the Universe - family day at Ebbw Vale Learning Centre. Must be the Friday habit kicking in, went for a cooked breakfast to set me up for the day. Something altogether dodgy about meeting in a car park to hand over leaflets, very Harry Palmer (for those of you old enough to remember that far back). Headed into the Gwent Archive building to the Steelworks Museum to meet up with the volunteers for a morning’s research – and tea and chocolate biscuits. Had a really good orientation introduction to the old steelworks site and Victoria, which is where my research is focussed. The building closed for lunch so I headed out for a wander around for a few photos of the surroundings and coffee and cake at the Leisure Centre. Several futuristic buildings around, great for abstract shots, but the UFO like leisure centre grabbed me. A meditation back at the car before heading back to Cwm to get a photos of the Miners Memorial garden on the outskirts, before heading home after quite a full day. Still had the AGM flyer to do before putting my feet up.
