The big hike
Day 194
Camp Roo arose early after our first fitful night.so early that even after a leisurely start it was still only 10am when we set off for our big adventure.
The boy was all kitted up with his new boots and rucksack (which I ended up carrying). It was a hot hot hot day but our slow amble up to Grinds Brook was broken up with an ice lolly pit stop in Edale.
But boy was it worth the constant encouragement of a tired legged five year old. We must have been paddling, climbing, sunning, picnicking and more paddling in the waterfalls and pools for a good 3 hours ...... Blissful!
We reluctantly headed back down to the Nags Head for cokes n chips, before our long walk back to the camp site. I was sooooo very proud how far my boy walked and despite wanting to give up, his head went down and he marched on. He even had the energy to run a little towards the end (wtf!?!? I was ready to collapse).
It was treats to have showers, pot noodles, cups of tea and biscuits.
And an earlier night.
