Piano music

St Mary's again, for a piano recital. Susan Tomes, playing

Sonata in E flat major .........  J. Haydn
Movements from Das Jahr ....  Fanny Mendelssohn
Notturno ..........  C. Schumann
Automne .........  C. Chaminade
Lyric Pieces   E. Grieg

Like Charles Wooler yesterday, she talked a little about the background of the composer and each piece for context. This time I sat in the main body of the kirk, on the comfortable chairs, although most of the audience had been encouraged to be close to the piano placed in front of the organ in the choir stalls and the adjacent seats next to the alter table.

Then met up with a friend who has had a lot of things going on; great to catch up. We had tea from the stall at the North door of the cathedral; which meant that we caught parts of the rehearsal for the Scottish Clarinet Choir performance; a wonderful warm sound.

A short walk around the New Town and George V park later on. Sunny morning.  Clouded over with a gusty West wind later on.
