Saturday
We visited Streamvale Farm today! It's a place R went to many times as a child. We visited together back in 2019. (Somehow half a decade ago!)
Getting there is a little precarious. There's no pavement part of the way there, so we had to walk on the road and hope the cars driving by weren't going too fast!
It was a lot busier this time around. In 2019 we visited during a weekday in May. Many small children there today!
Unfortunately, health and safety requires we have limited contact with the animals. When R was a child, many of the animals were free roaming and you could just jump into the pens of the ones that weren't. Probably a good thing that they've changed since then, but it would've been more fun!
They will often have puppies at Streamvale. They will grow up to be guide dogs and sniffer dogs. Sometimes they're Labradors, sometimes Cocker Spaniels, and this time it was Cockerpoos. You're allowed to have them on your lap, but the puppies were restless because it was too warm for them today. The extra was the only time one of them was chilled out!
We also handfed rabbits, deer and a horse and held a chick and a guinea pig.
Annoyingly, while waiting for the bus home, 2 busses never arrived. We couldn't understand how the bus could seemingly vanish, but it turned out it was due to protests in the city centre. Fortunately one did arrive eventually.
There seemed to be some paper boat festival by the river today. Some of them blew away in the wind! (Extra)
