Land and Sky

This field near Buckland Abbey in West Devon is normally grazed by sheep. This year it has been left to grow wild. The surrounding trees provide shelter from the prevailing winds. Here and there the leaves are just beginning to change colour. Between the sunny intervals the dark clouds close in and foreshorten the distance between land and sky, and all the time it feels warm and muggy. All very seasonal for August!
