Light and dark!

This is an experiment so please be brutal with your comments.  This afternoon it's dull and raining, so I decided to experiment indoors with light and dark.  This shot was taken in this location for that particular reason - limited light!  The only light source is from a window in the room to the left, which is out of sight.  I wanted to use the shadow of the stair railing on the right and for areas of the screen to disappear into darkness.  Is it atmospheric? - I don't think so but it was worth experimenting to see what could be achieved.
