Brown Study
Mishka and I have had a lovely day hunting in the front garden. She was after mice and young toads and I was hunting for brown argus butterflies.
It wasn't long before I spotted a brown argus quite near to where I saw one last night, in fact there was a pair of them. I got shots with the 500mm, the 100mm macro and the 35mm macro. I've decided to post the above as it clearly shows the blue tinge on the insect's thorax. Though these butterflies are brown, they're classified as blues. Evidently the males are very aggressive but the pair didn't stay around long enough for me to witness this. I think the insect in my pic is a male as the orange marks on his forewing peter out towards the edge. I got a shot of what I think is the female and her orange marks are bold right up to the edge.
