Bath Skyline walk
Got up reasonably early and headed off to find the Chippenham parkrun. It was very close to the hotel in a park by the river. There was a pacer event running. I tried to keep up with the 29 minute runner but lost her on one of the last loops. I still managed my fastest time for 2024 though.
Back for a quick shower and some instant porridge.
We hadn't got any firm plans for our weekend away. The friendly barman from the hotel mentioned that Bath was only 10 minutes by train so we had an impromptu visit. The train was rammed on the way...a hen party well into the prosecco and lots of people heading to a music event in Bristol. Luckily it was a short trip.
We walked out of the city to find the skyline walk. It was easy to find and great to escape the tourist hordes and coaches. The walk was well signposted and took in some views and some pretty woodland and more open sections. We took a diversion to a National Trust garden with a welcome tea room. The only problem was reclimbing the hill to rejoin the walk.
After getting back to Bathgate, we found a pub with a garden and sat with a drink before heading back to the station. Lots of steps and a couple of doses of painkillers for my annoying hip/back problem.
We struggled to stay awake again and had another early night.
