It’s popular in Japanese culture to give presents of specialty fruits. Expensive fruit is something of a status symbol, which is why there’s such a big market for it.

Japan is famous for developing some of the most expensive grapes in the world. It’s definitely outside my budget. Plus, if I’m going to spend money on grapes I’d prefer them in a glass ;)
