Dahlia

I don’t usually grow dahlias as they’re not my favourite plant, but a friend gave me a tuber for my birthday so I planted it. And amazingly it’s grown into this, from what looked like a dried up dog’s poo! There’s lots more flowers to come so I’m looking forward to a good display. And maybe I’ll be a dahlia convert.

Out to pottery this afternoon where I was attempting to throw a plant pot holder that would take a 16x16 cm plant pot. I used 1kg of clay and managed to get close to the size I was aiming at, but it won’t be big enough. But good practise and I learnt some useful tips about my throwing along the way. When you throw large, all your errors get magnified so it’s easier to see where things could be done better. I’ll try it again next week with a larger lump.
