Hull or Calyx
Who knew that the correct term for the top of a strawberry is called a Calyx?
Not me but l do use the term hulling when l take to top off the fruit.
So l knew the theme for TT was leaves and as l sliced my breakfast strawberries there was a blip waiting to be executed. Probably should have changed my scratched chopping board but this is what was in front of me.
Had a good win ( not a big prize) on the Premium Bonds last week so yesterday l bought two new garden chairs and five new planters for the garden, nothing extravagant but will look forward to making the new changes when it’s a tad cooler. Certainly too hot today so far.
Tim had asked me if l would get him some local honey and by coincidence my hairdresser who keeps bees sent a message yesterday saying she had just bottled a new batch. I asked her to save me two jars and l will collect them later today when l have my haircut.
My dance teacher, Lynne has five hives in her extended garden so l can get honey from her too. YorkGate where l am working tomorrow also has hives but they don’t make enough honey to sell to the public. Finally my neighbour round the corner also has hives and produces honey so no shortage of suppliers around here.
