A Song for the Dark Times

I was gifted this book a wee while back and I thought I'd save reading it as I intended hunting down others in the series from the local libraries, sales etc., so I could read them in order. That's taking much longer than anticipated...and I grudge buying a lot of new books, as I only ever read them once then either keep them gathering dust on the bookshelf, or I pass them on.
That's taking longer than planned, so I just thought I'd get this one read. After reading several books in the Rebus series, I knew it would not totally matter that I had not read them in sequence.
I thought this one was great. I especially enjoy these books as they are (for the most part) set in Edinburgh, and having lived there for 3 years before coming to live in The Netherlands, I tend to know the streets and areas mentioned, so it makes you more immersed in the story. This particular story also takes the reader to the North of Scotland.
It was packed with the usual 'baddie', familiar cops, several people in the frame, and plenty of action.
Another success, in my opinion, from Ian Rankin.
