Durnstein and its castle

Continuing our cruise along the Danube we visit the very complete and lovely ancient town of Durnstein and its very incomplete castle which makes it famous ( well a bit famous) .

It was here that Richard the Lionheart , King and Crusader , was imprisoned and held to ransom for c 18 months!! By a fellow Crusader! That wasn’t very nice was it?

Anyway he was eventually released and returned to England.
