Pond Visitors

Ponds are very popular with all sorts of wildlife, including wasps. Apparently there are less of them around this year. And apparently that is not a good thing. So enjoy your drink, wasp.

Also at the pond edge was a very agitated ant who appeared to be dragging around a lifeless ant. What did this mean? Was it heartbroken at its loss? Trying to wake it up? The answer became clear when I processed my shots. The dead ant's jaws were clamped tight on the poor creature's leg. I decided not to share this rather gruesome image with you.
